In order to denounce the extreme living and working conditions of foreign agricoltural workers, we created BÄRAKKÄ (from the italian word “baracca” = shack).
BÄRAKKÄ is a small leaflet illustrated (like those of the serial furniture giant IKEA) drawn with some workers coming from Burkina Faso, living in a shanty town in the South of Italy,
BÄRAKKÄ is an Instruction Manual that you can download to build your own “house made with nothing”. The procedure you find described inside is part of a real practice of survival and adaptation of the african workers. .
Everywhere in the world, those who do not have access to resources are forced to find other solutions to live. It could be very interesting to have a discussion with artists / operators of other nationalities to decline this theme of the house.
