My name is Khaoula Erraoui, I’ve been told that my grandfather from my mother side is the one who had chosen my name, he died couple months later.
I’ve never been bothered to search for the meaning of my name till my young adulthood, where I’ve met someone (who’ve studied “names meaning & anthropology”) who’ve told me its meaning: Khaoula in Classic Arabic refers to the Baby gazelles also called fawns or calves. I guess I loved it since I since call it Bambi in reference to the cartoon.
It is not easy to pronounce my name. Here is the phonetic “xæwlɑ” that’s why I had a lot of friends and colleagues calling me Koala or Kawla.
My last name is Erraoui which means the narrator or the storyteller, which I’m so not!
Beautiful name. Thanks for sharing your story.
